The Catalonia Junior Championship 2020 for Infantil, Alevin and Benjamin categories, is one of the most important events of the year for the group of juniors at our Barcelona Golf Academy. It is not only to put into practice what has developed during training, but also to achieve good results, even aiming to be crowned champions in some of the categories.
Almost a dozen of our young players from Club de Golf Barcelona went to Club de Golf Terramar, to play two intense rounds with the support of family, coaches and friends on the weekend of 3rd and 4th of October.
In the golf club of Sitges, more than a hundred boys and girls met from all over Catalonia. They had to fight against the wind, but the course was in excellent condition. And the summary could not have been more positive for our pupils.
The greatest success came among the younger players. The new Catalonia Benjamin champion (under 10 years) is Nassim Hababou, who won with 88 shots (43+45). Congratulations! In the same category, Marc Escayola also achieved good results, classifying seventh with 109 shots (55+54); the younger brother of the champion, Anis Hababou, finished eleventh with 113 shots (58+55); and Álvaro de Castro, 14th with 116 shots (61+55).
And in the Alevin category (11-12 years), Jon Julià was runner-up of Catalonia with 162 shots (86+76), just one stroke behind the winner. Alex Giménez, who finished 21st with 191 shots (99+92), also played in the same category; and Kanran Hababou, the older brother, was 32nd with 211 shots (107+104). Finally, other good results were the 20th place of Juan de Castro with 179 shots (94+85); and the 23rd of Danil Taldykin with 182 shots (96+86) in the Infantile category (13-14 years).
