Our expedition to the Club Golf d’Aro – Mas Nou, on the Costa Brava of Girona, has concluded this Sunday, February 28th, with success for the Barcelona Golf Academy. In the Golf d’Aro International Cup, a scoring tournament for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), and for the Grand Prix of the Federació Catalana de Golf, we have collected two runners-up that bring us a lot of energy to continue training and having fun playing golf in the season 2021.
The best Catalan players, and others coming from different areas of Spain, competed in three exciting and spectacular days, where you had to take the wind and unevenness into account, in this high altitude golf course in excellent conditions. The Under 18 men’s event was won by Álvaro Roldos, from the Elche School, thanks to an outstanding last round of 69 shots, for a total Scratch of 217. And the runner-up went to our Alex de Castro, representing the Club de Golf Barcelona, who played a ‘brilliant’ comeback. With three rounds of 77, 75 and 72 shots, he surpassed the main favorites, with a result of 224 shots. Congratulations!
Maxim Danilin played a very stable game to get into the Top-10, finishing ninth with rounds of 76, 78 and 79, with 233 shots. Completing the BGA Team were Joan Panisello, 14th with 239 shots; Vladimir Taldykin, 38th with 259 shots; Xavier Rosell, 44th with 267 shots; and Marc Llorens, 52nd with 281 shots. Meanwhile, our Sub-16 players also did well, with Juan de Castro hitting very good shots given his 7.3 handicap, and finishing 33rd with 253 shots; and Daniil Taldykin, 51st with 280 shots.
In the women’s competition, the tournament was very close and the winner was finally Blanca Yagüe, from RCG El Prat, who beat our champion of Catalonia, Alisa Khokhlova, by a single shot. Blanca started marking ahead on Friday with a 71, but Alisa reacted on Saturday with the best round of the event, 69. Today Sunday, Blanca’s 74 for Alisa’s 76 tipped the balance on the other side, with 221 against 222 shots.
In this category, we’d also like to highlight the good contribution of Daniela Campillo, a regular player on our expeditions, who finished in a magnificent fifth place with 236 shots. And also in Sub-16 was our young Laia Llorens, finishing the 22nd with 266 shots.
Without a doubt, a great event that shows that we are at a very good level, and that the rivalry is very high. Keep going…
