The International of Spain Sub 18 Men Stroke Play finished on Sunday 5th of September 5. This is one of the most important events of the category, organized by the Real Federacion Española de Golf (RFEG) and scoring for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), with the enormous achievement of our player Alejandro de Castro, in a high-level tournament due to its ample European participation.
On the course of Club de Golf Vallromanes, in Barcelona, the Danish player Jens Kristian Thysted was the great dominator with four rounds under par, and a total of 14 shots under par. On the Spanish front, the best result was gained by Jaime Montojo (-7), tied third, while on the Catalan front, the great joy was provided by Alex de Castro, who signed a last round of 68 shots, the second best card of the day, to end in a magnificent fifth place with 284 shots (-4).
Best Catalan and second Spanish player. Undoubtedly a great job done by Alex, with the added merit of having come back from a 76 in the first round, to end up beating well-known names on the Spanish and Catalan scene in his category. With rounds of 76, 70, 70 and 68, the Club de Golf Barcelona player went on catching up throughout the event to finish with 16 birdies, four of them on the last day, where he registered a bogey-free scorecard.
What a crack, Alex! Congratulations.
