This year again, we went to La Rioja full of enthusiasm to participate in the Copa Club de Campo Sojuela, an event supported by the Real Federacion Española de Golf and scoring for the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The ninth edition of this tournament was held on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of April, and we attended it with six elite players from the Barcelona Golf Academy who gained experience in another three-round competition.
With a high level of play, and the presence of good players from La Rioja, the Basque Country, Madrid and Catalonia, our best result was obtained in the female category by Valeria Biarge, second in Scratch and fourth in Handicap. Valeria played well all three days, and with three rounds of 80, 76 and 78 she was fighting for the victory right up to the end. Her 234 shots were one shot short of tying with the winner.
In the men’s category, Bruno Martí stood out, ranking 11th in the Scratch classification, with rounds of 79, 80 and 82, and a total of 241 shots. He achieved a well-deserved tied 3rd place Handicap, 5 points behind the winner.
The rest of the team was made up of Maxim Danilin, 15th, with 246 shots; Nikolay Barrios, 17th with 253 shots, and an extraordinary 74 in the first round; Alexander Company 22nd, with 277 shots; and Vladimir Egorov, 28th with 290 shots, happily taking the 5th place Handicap.
Keep on going, players!
