For another year, Barcelona Golf Academy went to TorreMirona Golf & Spa Resort, in Girona, to participate with the best spirit in the classic TorreMirona Cup, with an expedition of eight players, where our pupils enjoyed two magnificent days of golf, and also almost all improved their results compared to last year.
The event was held in two rounds, on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of February 2023, as a scoring event for the Grand Prix Rankings of the Federacio Catalana de Golf in the Infantil, Alevin and Benjamin 2023 categories. More than 60 participants enjoyed the golf course in very good condition and a perfect organization by Kilian Archelaguet and Steve Scott, with food and the awards ceremony after the tournament at the TorreMirona Golf & Spa Resort hotel.
The eight players from the Club de Golf Barcelona attended the event full of enthusiasm and ready to have a great time playing on the beautiful Girona course, with the challenge of the Scratch and Handicap competitions in each category.
The club’s best result was recorded precisely in the youngest category, the Benjamin, over 9 holes. Our player Gabriel de Souza achieved victory in the Handicap classification, with 65 points. In addition, he finished in second position in Scratch, with rounds of 52 and 45 hits, 97 in total. Great, Gabriel!
We had the largest participation in the Infantil category. The lowest card in the event was delivered by our player Nassim Hababou, with 74 shots on Saturday. What a pity he didn’t have such a good day on Sunday, and with 94 hits he finished with 168, which gave him third place in Scratch, after having been declared Scratch Alevín champion last year. Furthermore, this year he was the third tied with Samuel Ward in Handicap, both with 150 points, the latter being the sixth in Scratch.
The Infantil team was completed by Alex Giménez, 8th Scratch and 11th Handicap; Tahiri Salinas, 9th Handicap and 16th Scratch; and Marc Escayola, 15th Handicap and 18th Scratch.
Finally, in the Alevín category we were represented by Álvaro de Castro, who finished the sixth Scratch with 186 strokes, and the 5th Handicap, with 158 points; and Anis Hababou, 8th Handicap and 9th Scratch.
Well played my friends, let’s keep going!
