Last weekend, the 4th and 5th of February, 2023, the first Puntuable Zonal RFEG was held at Infinitum Golf, in Tarragona, organized by the Federacio Catalana de Golf (FC Golf). And our expedition can be truly satisfied with what it achieved, returning with double success. First, for Jan Farré’s victory in the Cadet Category, and second for Club de Golf Barcelona, the team with the biggest participation in the event, with 18 players of the Academy.
At Infinitum Golf we lived two intense days, with the boys playing on the Lakes course and the girls on the Hills, in the Cadet, Infant and Under-12 categories. On Saturday the tee off was delayed because the greens were frozen, but then the sun came out and the day was perfect. And on Sunday the sun was also spectacular, and after some wind and cold early on, in the day ended well.
The players were able to show the best of their skills while competing in front of family and friends, and with the support of their coaches Carlos Vivas and Alejandro Sánchez during the weekend. Our best result was in the men’s Cadet category, where a sensational Jan Farré – now at the Eagle Program of the FC Golf – was proclaimed champion with two rounds of 74 and 71 strokes, for a total of 145. A special mention goes to Alex Company who, after a 75 on Saturday, also signed the course’s par on Sunday, 71, to be the runner-up, one stroke behind Jan (146).
In addition, we had two other players in the Top-5, with Ignacio Berea fourth with 150 strokes, and Jon Juliátied fifth with 151. Matteo Sasdelli (13th), Kamran Hababou (15th), Dylan Richardson (20th), Gerard Guinart (23rd), Bruno Castro (25th) and Jorge de Asis Rojas (27th) also showed their progress.
In the boys Infantil‘s category, Alex Giménez could not repeat his fantastic initial performance, when he took the lead with the best round of 78 on Saturday. On Sunday, his 93 relegated him to sixth place with 179 strokes. In the Top-10 was Nassim Hababou with 181 strokes, accompanied by Tahiri Salinas (15th), and we hope that Samuel Ward has recovered, since he had to retire because he was not feeling well.
In the boys Sub-12 category, our players were very regular in their game, repeating their same scorecards on both days. With two 89s, Leo Oliver finished seventh with 178 strokes, Álvaro de Castro eighth with two 92s, and Anis Hababou twelfth with two 101s. And finally, in the girls Sub-12 we had Rosa Moreno, who finished ninth in one of her first Federation events.
We must congratulate all the players, because despite being an individual tournament, they played like a team, encouraging each other, with spectacular behavior. Congratulations and thank you all!
