At the Barcelona Golf Academy we are still on the wave. This weekend, the first Puntuable Zonal Junior RFEG 2021 was held in Catalonia and, from our expedition to Lumine Golf in Tarragona, we brought back a new championship and a handful of good results, fantastically achieved by our young players from the Club de Golf Barcelona.
The national scoring event was played in two rounds, on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of March, at the Lakes Course, a beautiful links style layout designed by Greg Norman, with numerous water hazards within a protected natural area. We arrived at Lumine Golf with ten excited BGA players, ready to have fun playing the best golf they have learned in training.
To begin with, we have to congratulate Juan de Castro who, following his older brother Alex (runner-up last weekend in the Golf d’Aro International Cup) dominated in the Scratch Infantil classification. In a very close competition, he won the championship with rounds of 79 and 75, 154 shots in total, beating by one and eight shots his two most difficult opponents, both with lower handicap.
In the same male Infantil category we also have to congratulate to Jan Farré, champion at the TorreMirona Cup 2021 a couple of weeks ago, who scored two solid rounds of 83 and 82 shots to finish the 6th, with 165. We have to ad the participation of Jon Julià, who finished 12th with 170 shots; followed by Kanran Hababou, 13th with 171 shos; Mateo Acevedo, 18th with 175 shots; and Daniil Taldykin, 21st with 178 shots.
In the Cadete category, Joan Panisello signed a magnificent eighth place, with rounds of 75 and 74, and a total of 149 shots, nine shots behind the winner. And in the category of the younger ones, Sub-12, applause for Alex Giménez, who finished 10th with 191 shots; and his teammates Nassim Hababou, 11th with 193 shots; Tahiri Salinas, 17th with 204 shots. But specially for Álvaro de Castro, the third in the saga, who wanted to play with the elders since there was no Benjamin category, making it super and finishing the 19th with 218 shots.
Well played guys, you are the stars of the future!
