Last Sunday, 20th of June, the grand final of the Junior Golf Tour was held at the Club de Golf Barcelona. It turned out to be a great sports festival for the juniors, with all their enthusiasm and their desire to play surrounded by friends and teachers.
The open tour is an initiative of the Barcelona Golf Academy (BGA) and its mission is to offer boys and girls the opportunity to maintain the rhythm of competition t the weekends when there are no official or federative events. But coming from the BGA, it was guaranteed that it was going to be loaded with incentives: trophies, equipment, gifts, vouchers, etc.
In this way, fifty boys and girls have been competing in the different events, which received the name of the corresponding European Tour tournament each weekend. And one of the main attractions was this grand finale, with beautiful trophies and medals, along with a magnificent raffle of gifts that, after the tense calm of playing the course, exploded into the excitement of the juniors at the final ceremony of the event.
Since March, the regular events have been played, some 10 events, and this last one was the grand final, which coincided with the US Open won by Jon Rahm, so the value of the points was double. The winners of the final 18-hole round, in the Accumulated Indistinct Handicap classification, were Nassim Hababou, with 41 points; followed by a triple tie at 40 points between Xavier Rosell, Vladimir Taldykin and Alex de Marcos. Meanwhile, in the youngest category 9-hole event, the winner was Anis Hababou, with 22 points; followed by Álvaro de Castro and Leo Oliver, with 21 and 18 points respectively.
Thanks to the regularity of having participated in the Junior Golf Tour and with good results, the champions of the ranking were Juan de Castro in the 1st Handicap Category, with 382 points, with a wide advantage over Xavier Rosell and Vladimir Taldykin, with 292 and 187 points each; Samuel Ward was first in the 2nd Handicap Category, with 421 points, in close competition with Alex Company and Dylan Richardson, with 397 and 380 points respectively; and Álvaro de Castro in the Benjamín Category, with 221 points, who kept ahead of Leo Oliver, second with 167 points, while Anis Hababou finished third, with 126 points.
Golf bags, backpacks, suitcases, caps, golf gloves … have caused a sensation among the juniors during the awards ceremony and the gift raffle. Guillem Parra was the lucky one with the ‘jackpot’, and received the desired Nintendo Switch.
At the awards ceremony were the president of the Club de Golf Barcelona, Santi Rosell; the club’s junior delegate, Juan Escayola; the director of the Barcelona Golf Academy, Carlos Vivas, and his team made up of teachers David Guarch, Pablo Monetti, Alejandro Sánchez and Almu Ucillos.
We hope you have enjoyed it, and we look forward to the next year in a new edition of our Junior Golf Tour!
