The expeditions of the Barcelona Golf Cademy took us to La Rioja this time, to play the VIII Sojuela Country Club Cup 2021 on April 23rd, 24th and 25th, in another event of the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), male and female.
Our team of two brave players, made up of Alejandro de Castro and Valeria Biarge, joined three other players from friendly clubs, Bruno Camí from RCG El Prat, Tomás Junquera from Sant Cugat, and Vicente Mestre from CG Barcelona, ready to take up the challenge as they looked for the points to enter and climb in the WAGR, with the experience of a three-round tournament including hotel accommodation. Participation was high, with 65 high-level young amateur players from all over Spain.
The weather was quite good on the first two days, with sun, a few clouds and clear sky, but then it got worse, to the point that on Sunday the third round had to be canceled due to the intense fog, and the tournament was reduced to 36 holes. Finally, our best result came by the hand of Valeria Biarge, with rounds of 78 and 77 shots (+11), reaching the second classified in Female Scratch, nine shots more than the Basque Fernanda Gorostiaga.
Among the boys stand out Bruno Camí, the 13th with 157 strokes, Alex de Castro, 16th with 160 strokes, Vicente Mestre, 18th with 161 strokes, and Tomás Junquera, 24th with 166.
Great experience, going for the next one!
