Daniela Campillo, player of the women’s golf team of University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM), and trained at the Barcelona Golf Academy of the Club de Golf Barcelona, has earned the All-Tournament Team recognition after placing second in the overall individual stroke play classification of the Sun Belt Conference Championship 2024, on the 17th of April.
Her contribution to the team helped the Warhawks obtain a place in the final match-play championship, finishing third in the previous matches played at The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Alabama (USA).
Daniela placed second with a score of 214 (-2), and led the field with the best result in the par four scoring. As a freshman, the Barcelona native sank 37 pars and 10 birdies in her outstanding tournament performance.
“The whole team works really hard and we practice a lot,” said Daniela Campillo. “I feel like the practice helped me in my game. My coaches are the best, and we have a strong bond. I am really happy I had the opportunity to showcase my golf. For it being my freshman year and to finish second is crazy.”
The Warhawks secured a spot in the final match play to fight for the conference title, after shooting a team total of 879 strokes (+15), behind Texas State of 861 (-3) and Georgia Southern of 877 (+13), but ahead of Old Dominion and Arkansas State.
“This was our goal the whole semester and the entire season,” said ULM head coach Rachel Pollock. “We talked a lot about it, and we are excited for the opportunity to compete tomorrow.”
It was a pity that, the next day, the ULM women’s golf team fell in the championship match-play semifinals against Georgia Southern, after they captured a 4-0-1 win, on Thursday, 18th of April, at The Lakewood Club.
Congratulations Daniela!
