The Spanish Infantil, Alevín & Benjamín Championship 2021 has been held in the Rosa course of the Real Club de Golf El Prat (Barcelona), from July 6th to 8t. It was very exciting as it got underway, in three rounds, with the best juniors of the whole country.
Among the players of the Barcelona Golf Academy, the most outstanding was undoubtedly Jan Farré (pictures 1, 3 and 4), who finished with a brilliant fourth place in the Infantil category. Jan started with a magnificent 74 (+2), which placed him fourth tied in the first round. The 78 (+6) of the second round delayed him some positions, but in the third and last round he showed how great he is as a player by repeating the 74 scorecard, again the fourth best of the day, to finish fourth with a total of 226 shots (+10), counting four valuable birdies. He was only six shots behind the winner, Gonzalo Rodríguez, from Castilla La Mancha, with 220 shots (+4).
His teammate Juan de Castro also played in the Infant category, starting with a great 10th position in the first round, thanks to a 76-shot round. Subsequent not so lucky rounds of 87 and 86 shots relegated him to the 39th final position, with 249 shots (+34), out of a total of 60 players.
In the Benjamin category, played over 9 holes, we’d like to highlight the good result of Leo Oliver (picture 2) who, with three very regular rounds of 42, 43 and 42, recorded a total of 127 shots (+22) for 22nd place.
His partner Álvaro de Castro, Juan’s brother, remained stable with rounds of 41, 43 and 46, and finished in the 30th position with 130 shots (+25), out of a total of 60 players. The winner was the Andalusian Martín Cervera, with 109 shots (+4).
A lot of talent and an excellent job from the boys, who make up the promise of our golf of the future. Congratulations for all!
