At Barcelona Golf Academy we never stop, and while the little ones enjoy their Summer Camp’22 at the Club de Golf Barcelona, our elite players went last weekend to play the Summer WAGR 2022 at Panoramica Golf, in Castellon.
The tournament, scoring for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), was played from 8th to 10th of July in individual Stroke Play Scratch over three rounds, 54 holes, with tee off from the white bars for men, and blue bars for women.
And the new champion of Catalonia, achieved just the week before in Empordà Golf, Alejandro de Castro, was the great protagonist. He dominated from the beginning, starting with a sensational first round of 66 shots, which would be definitive.
With an initial advantage of five shots over his rivals, the young lefthanded player only had to regulate his great game and with two more rounds of 73 and 71 shots, he took the victory with a total of 210 shots, eight of advantage over the runner-up. Without a doubt, his superiority was incontestable. Congratulations Alex!
The truth is that we had a very complete and lively expedition to Panoramica, with well-experienced players, and others taking their first steps in high-level competition. Bruno Martí gained a meritorious sixth place with 230 shots, with all his rounds below 80. In eighth place was Ignacio Berea, with 231 shots.
Laia Llorens was the first girl to classify, in 11th place overall, with a total of 234 shots. Her brother Marc Llorens was 13th with six more shots, and tied with Amaury Ledain at 240. Juan de Castro, the champion’s middle brother, was also there at Panoramica, finishing 16th with 242 shots. And Tom Negra and Vladimir Egorov rounded out the team, finishing 17th and 19th with 252 and 267 shots respectively.
We keep going up, we’re on fire!
