Our Club de Golf Barcelona had the honor of hosting the first edition of the prestigious Barcelona Golf Junior Open by IMG, scoring for the Grand Prix of the Federació Catalana de Golf, on 18th and 19th of September. Many of the Barcelona Golf Academy pupils took the opportunity to compete for the first time in the new 2021-22 season.
With a participation of 65 boys and girls, between 8 and 16 years old, the competition took place over the weekend with the aim of winning some of the great prizes that were at stake, offered by the IMG Academy. And the golf course remained in optimal condition despite the electric storm that showered the first day.
Our list of players included, in Benjamin: Leo Oliver, Álvaro de Castro and Anis Hababou; in Alevines: Nassim Hababou, Alex Giménez and Samuel Ward; in Cadetes: Laia Llorens and Daniela Bellido; and in Infantiles: Dylan Richardson, Kanran Hababou, Jon Julia, Juan de Castro, Jan Farré, Daniil Taldykin and Alex Company.
Our two best results included the winner in the Infantil category (Handicap), who was Dylan Richardson. With two rounds of 72 and 70 shots, Dylan completed the tournament with 142 strokes (+2), to finish tied for first place but with a better handicap coefficient.
And the second great result was the runner-up in the Benjamin category (Scratch & Handicap), 9 holes, achieved by Leo Oliver who, with two rounds of 34 and 34 (68), finished with a birdie, only two shots behind the winner.
In addition, Nassim Hababou was fourth in Alevines (Handicap); and big news is that his brother Kanran Hababou was the winner of the exclusive scholarship to attend the IMG Academy in the United States.
Well played folks!
