The players of the Barcelona Golf Academy continue to do well at professional competitions. They are amateurs, of course, but their preparation allows them to level up and begin to try themselves out a step higher. First we had Alisa Khokhlova in the LET Access Series, then Valeria Biargé in the Santander Golf Tour, and this last week Jordan Schmid in the Alps Tour.
Jordan Schmid, our international Swiss player, went on the adventure of the Alps Tour, to play the First Stage of the Qualifying School, held on 11st and 12th of November at the tricky Golf Nazionale, in Rome, and he did very well.
In the first round he played a very solid game scoring 14 holes at par, one birdie and three bogeys, for a total of 74 shots. In the second round he started more inconsistent, with bogeys on holes 1 and 3, and a double bogey on 4. He didn’t lose heart, and recovered with three consecutive birdies from 5 to 7, and still managed to equal the par of the golf course with another birdie at 12. It was a pity that he finished with a couple of bogeys at holes 17 and 18, which meant he repeated the card of 74 of the previous day.
With a total of 148 shots (+4) he was classified in the Nº19 place tied, easily entering the group of 37 players who got access to the Final Stage of the Alps Tour Qualifying School 2020. Congratulations!
The event will be played again in Italian golf courses, the Golf Nazionale and Terre dei Consoli Golf Club, from 17th to 19th of November. There will be 144 candidates in a tough competition, in search of the 35 places that will gain the entire card to play the Alps Tour 2021.
Go for it, Jordan, our Nº1 Qualifier!
