The second Puntuable Zonal Juvenil RFEG for 2022 in Catalonia has been played, and the Barcelona Golf Academy expedition has gone very well, not only because of our huge participation, with 14 players from the Club de Golf Barcelona, but also because the first place was taken by Nassim Hababou in the Under-12 category, while Jon Juliá took runner-up position in the Infantil category.
Organized by the Federació Catalana de Golf, the scoring competition was played over two rounds in the Cadete, Infantil and Under-12 categories, on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of April in the Club de Golf Costa Daurada, where a total of 87 players had to fight against the bad weather, as well as against the course and their opponents.
With this weather, the rain and the cold meant that Saturday’s cards added quite a few extra shots, while on Sunday the sun came out over the course in Tarragona and, despite the cold, the end of the tournament was much more pleasant.
In the Male Cadete category the result of Ignacio Berea was remarkable. Although he signed 84 shots in the first round, his extraordinary 74 on Sunday were the best card in his category and one of the best in the event, showing his full golf potential. His final 158 shots placed him in 5th position, just three strokes from the winner. Next to him were Jan Farré, 7th with 163 shots; Juan de Castro, 9th with 164 shots; Mateo Acevedo the 12th with 173 shots; and Alex Company 14th with 188 shots.
In the Male Infantil category we celebrate the runner-up of Jon Juliá, who displayed his best golf to finish second, thanks to two rounds of 81 and 77, and a total of 158 shots, five shots from the winner. Also noteworthy is the 4th place of Dylan Richardson, with 164 shots; while Alex Giménez was the 8th with 167 shots; Kamram Hababou was 9th with 168 shots; and Samuel Ward 13th with 174 shots.
Finally, in the Male Sub-12 category the victory was taken by our Nassim Hababou, with rounds of 84 and 80, for a total of 164 shots, with ample authority thanks to his lead of five shots. In this category, Leo Oliver came a good 6th place with 176 strokes; and Anis Hababou and Álvaro de Castro closed our participation tied for 19th place with 200 shots.
Congratulations to all our brave team for playing so well in such cold weather.
