As always, the Barcelona Golf Academy expedition to play the classic TorreMirona Cup was very well received, and we have no doubt that our players had a great time at the TorreMirona Golf & Spa Resort facilities, in Girona.
The competition was played in two rounds, on February 12th and 13th, 2022, on Stroke Play Scratch modality, in an event valid for the 2022 Infantil, Alevín and Benjamín Spanish Championship. The 75 participating players found everything very well arranged by the organization, with the driving range of the Steve Scott Golf Academy and the golf course in perfect condition, with the TorreMirona Golf & Spa Resort hotel for meals and the awards ceremony.
Some ten players from the Club de Golf Barcelona attended the event charged with enthusiasm and ready to give their all for the Handicap and Scratch classifications ahead. We had the largest participation in the Infantil’s category, 18 holes, where Dylan Richardson ended the 4th Handicap and, after an 80 on the first day, recovered with a sensational round of 71 shots for a total of 151, seven behind the winner, Jacobo Knuth.
Dylan was accompanied by Kamran Hababou, 6th Handicap with 154 shots; Samuel Ward, the 14th with 158 shots; Alex Giménez, 16th with 159 shots; and Jon Juliá, the 17th with 160 shots.
Our best result came in the Alevín category, 18 holes, where Nassim Hababou finished the 3rd Handicap with two great rounds of 74 and 72 shots, and a total of 146, eight behind the winner, Max Anglada. And, on top of that, Nassim was proclaimed champion in Scratch with 168 points. Congratulations! With him was Marc Escayola, who ranked 14th Handicap with 162 shots.
The Benjamin category was very exciting. At the end of the 9 holes, Marcos Leach, from RCG Cerdaña, and Álvaro de Castro were equal in Scratch with 94 shots. The tie was resolved in favor of Marcos, who made par at the ’10th hole’ play-off. Likewise, we congratulate Álvaro for his magnificent game, with the best round of 44 shots in the category, a 2nd Scratch and a 5th Handicap with 94 shots. For his part, the youngest of the Hababou brothers, Anis, was the 4th Scratch and 6th Handicap with 104 strokes.
A great event, congratulations to all!
