The Barcelona Golf Academy organized a new expedition outside of Catalonia, this time to La Rioja, to participate from 14th to 16th of April in the X Club de Campo Sojuela Cup WAGR. Excited, and with the van completely full, up to eight of our players were encouraged to play in this beautiful La Rioja golf course in search of the appealing points of the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
The event was held in the Individual Stroke-Play Scratch mode, with elite players from La Rioja, plus others from Madrid, the Basque Country, Catalonia, even Mallorca and Cádiz.
And the greatest success came from our player Valeria Biarge, who was proclaimed champion in both classifications, Scratch and Handicap Female categories. Her rounds of 73, 80 and 73 gave her a total of 226 shots, 10 less than the second classified, which gives an idea of her superiority.
The satisfaction has been enormous, since Valeria has finally achieved the goal that we set ourselves some time ago in the academy, of entering the world ranking with points. Congratulations champion!
In the men’s category there was more rivalry, but here we also had a champion, who was Kamran Hababou in the Men’s Handicap classification (211), who playing his best golf won the corresponding trophy. Our best result in the Men’s Scratch classification was achieved by Ricky Aguilar, who finished sixth, with rounds of 78, 74 and 78, for a total of 230 shots; and also finished the sixth Handicap, the same as his partner Bruno Castro (224).
In Scratch Kamran Hababou finished 17th (247), Bruno Castro 20th (260), Nassim Hababou 21st (261), Amaury Ledain 23rd (264), Jorge de Asis Rojas 25th (272), Vladimir Egorov 30th (290).
A good experience for the whole team.
